LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 2-0-1 OVERALL RECORD: 16-13-4, 36 pts.

January 4 vs. Peoria, 4-3 Shootout Win - The Falcons returned home for their first game at Save Mart Center following a seven-game road trip and used goals from Charles Simard, Paul Falco and Derek Krestanovich to reach the end of regulation tied at three. Simard and Dan Tessier then scored in the shootout, and goaltender Jamie Hodson stoned all four Peoria shooters he faced, giving him a league-high four shootout victories this season.

January 7 vs. San Diego, 9-5 Win - Six different goal scorers staked Fresno to a 6-1 lead mid-way through the second period as the club set a season high for most goals in a game and most goals scored in a period with five during the second. The victory was also the team's season high fourth in a row.

January 8 @ San Diego, 4-3 Overtime Loss - The Falcons missed their chance to sweep their home-and-home series with the Gulls when San Diego scored 3:37 into overtime. Jason Weaver tied the game at three mid-way through the third with a power play goal after Fresno let a 2-1 lead at the start of the period slip away. Derek Krestanovich and Dan Tessier also scored as the Falcons still picked up a point in the standings and remained unbeaten in 2005 at 4-0-1.

NOTES

. Dan Tessier notched the team's second hat trick of the year on Friday and at one point moved all the way into a tie for fourth in the league scoring race. He begins the week in sixth with 35 points (15g-20a).

. With his fourth short-handed goal of the year on Friday, Tessier tied the Falcons team record for most short-handed goals in a single season. Mike Mathers (1997-98), Joe Frederick (2001-02) and Glen Gulutzan (2001-02) also achieved the feat.

. Charles Simard is tied for second in scoring among league defensemen with 24 points (5g-19a).

. Derek Krestanovich has a goal in four straight hockey games and is second on the team with 13 on the year.

. The Falcons are ranked 9th (17.3%) on the power play and 21st (82.1%) on the penalty kill.

. Fresno begins the week in a three-way tie for fourth place in the West Division with the San Diego Gulls and Las Vegas Wranglers. They are two points out of third behind the Alaska Aces and 10 points back of the first-place Bakersfield Condors.
