Royals Host Inaugural Lighthouse Island Bowl

Victoria, B.C. - The Victoria Royals go back-to-back with the Vancouver Giants this weekend after a strong road trip in the United States.

Victoria picked up seven out of a possible eight points against their U.S. Division opponents and have won five of their last six games.

This Friday will be the second time the team is in Langley this year. During the Royals last visit, Evan Patrician scored the game winning goal with 13 seconds left, kick-starting Victoria's latest hot streak.

Then on Saturday, the two teams travel to Victoria to face-off in the Royals inaugural Lighthouse Island Bowl where one team will claim victory over the Island Bowl trophy on the eve of the CFL Grey Cup.

Saturday's game starts with a tailgate at Gate 1 that will have a unique chili stand and trophy photo station. As a special surprise, the first 500 fans who get their picture taken with the Island Bowl Trophy will receive a Griffen Outhouse bobblehead. Fans are asked to head to the arena early to enjoy a special pregame and player presentation featuring the Giants and Royals broadcasting teams.

Joining in the festivities on Saturday is Chief Manak of the Victoria Police Department who will participate in the ceremonial puck drop and trophy presentation. The team is also pleased to welcome the Victoria Transition House who will be accepting donations on the concourse.
