Timafey Kovgoreniya to Play for Team Belarus in IIHF U20 World Championship D1 Group A

Hørsholm, Denmark - Chiefs Belarusian defenseman Timafey Kovgoreniya will represent his country in the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship Division 1 Group A in Denmark next week. Team Belarus will first face Team Hungary on Monday, December 13, followed by Teams Latvia, Kazakhstan and Norway.

Last year's IIHF U20 World Championship Division 1 was canceled, but Team Belarus finished third in 2020's tournament and second in 2019's. It is Kovgoreniya's first time playing in the tournament.

So far this season, the rookie defenseman has suited up for 17 games for the Chiefs, putting up two points on two assists.

The Division 1 U20 World Championship will begin on December 12 with Team Hungary taking on Team Kazakhstan.
