Oil Kings Select Tory Pitner and Tyler Atchison in 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings made two selections during the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft on Wednesday.

With their first pick, 17th-overall, the Oil Kings selected defenceman Tory Pitner from the South Kent Selects Academy U15 program.

In 27 games with the Selects this season, the 5-foot-11, 164-pound rearguard has put up 28 points (7G, 21A) while also serving as the team's captain.

The Berkley, California native previously played with the San Jose Jr. Sharks U14 AAA program, as well as the Los Angeles Kings U13 AAA program.

With their second pick, 28th-overall, the Oil Kings selected forward Tyler Atchison from the Windy City Storm U15 program.

In 29 games this season with the Storm, the Las Vegas, Nevada product has registered 24 points (16G, 8A) and 16 penalty minutes.

The 5-foot-9, 140-pound forward previously played with the Arizona Bobcats U14 AAA program.

Players eligible for the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft were 2006-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Players not selected in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft are eligible to be selected in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, December 9, or listed by a WHL Club at any time thereafter.
