Silvertips Select Aidan Yi, Cody Polumbus in WHL U.S. Prospects Draft

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips added two new players through the Western Hockey League U.S. Prospects Draft on Wednesday morning, selecting forward Aidan Yi and forward Cody Polumbus over two rounds.

Yi, an '06-born Lake Forest, CA native, was selected 14th-overall from Culver Military Academy 16U. He has logged six goals and four assists over 15 games with the Culver Eagles this season. A 5-foot-7, 146 lb. forward, Yi joins current Silvertips winger Matthew Ng as California kids and former Anaheim Jr. Ducks to be drafted to Everett out of Culver Academy.

Polumbus, an '06-born forward from Whitefish, MT, has been a point-per-game player with the Sioux Falls POWER 15's this season, registering 15 goals and 11 assists in 26 games at the 15U AAA level. The 5-foot-9, 154 lb. skater also played for the Notre Dame Hounds prep school in 2020-21, a prolific hockey academy that has produced notable alums such as Barry Trotz, Jon Cooper and Rod Brind'Amour.

Players not selected in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will remain eligible to be selected in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, December 9, or listed by a WHL Club at any time thereafter.

The Silvertips will select 20th overall in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, to be held Thursday morning beginning at 9 a.m. PST. Players eligible for the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft are 2006-born players who reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
