Regina's Chili for Children Presented with $40,000 Through Pats We Care Weekdays
December 8, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats Hockey Club's We Care Weekday games continued Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre with a generous $20,000 donation from sponsor, The Mosaic Company. The total was matched by Brandt's Thanks A Billion Program for an impressive $40,000 commitment to Chili for Children.
Chili for Children was founded in 1979 by the late Theresa Stevenson. The grassroots organization offers food programming for children, families and seniors in Regina's North Central neighborhood. Chili for Children serves 96,000 hot meals to students annually.
"Mosaic is a long-time supporter of Chili for Children's work in our community," says Mosaic's Director of Public and Government Relations, Jessica Theriault. "At Mosaic, we help the world grow the food it needs- locally that means supporting organizations that provide access to healthy food for those who need it most," she adds.
"We're so grateful for this incredible support from Mosaic and Brandt through the Regina Pats, the funds will support our school hot lunch program, family food basket program and holiday dinners for schools and seniors," says Chili for Children's Executive Director, Greg Stevenson. "It couldn't come at a better time," he adds.
To date, with the support of Brandt's Thanks A Billion Program, the Pats' We Care Weekday games have delivered $130,000 to local Regina community organizations. "Brandt has committed $220,000 in matching funds for this initiative," says Pats COO, Trevor Buhnai. "With Brandt's support and generous sponsors like Mosaic, we're collectively aiming to give back $440,000 to local organizations this season," he adds.
