Americans Select Cardona, Ellingsen in 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the organization has selected forwards Camerin Cardona and Connor Ellingsen in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft.

The Americans used their first-round pick to select Cardona at seventh overall. Cardona is a five-foot-ten and 146-pound forward from Anaheim, California. The 15-year-old is currently playing with the Anaheim Jr. Ice Dogs 15's and has collected 37 points (26 goals and 11 assists) through 36 games played this season.

Tri-City selected a local prospect in the second round with Connor Ellingsen at 38th overall. The six-foot and 170-pound forward is a native of Pasco, Washington and plays for the Tri-City Jr. Americans 16UAA.

Players eligible for the draft are 2006-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Players not selected in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will remain eligible to be selected in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft or listed by a WHL Club at any time thereafter.

The Americans will select second overall in the 2021 WHL Prospect Draft tomorrow.
