Broncos Add Two Prospects in WHL U.S. Priority Draft

Swift Current, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos held the sixth and 39th overall picks in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft Wednesday afternoon, selecting defenceman John Whipple sixth and forward Henry Lechner 39th.

Whipple, from Deephaven, Minnesota, was selected out of the Shattuck St. Mary's U15 AAA program in Fairbault, Minnesota. In 25 games this season the 5'11, 172-pound Whipple has scored 11 goals and added 18 assists.

Lechner, from Bloomington, Minnesota, was selected from the Academy of Holy Angels Stars high school team in Richfield, Minnesota. Through four games this season, the 6'2, 181-pound Lechner has scored three goals with five assists. He also has 14 goals and 25 points with the Minnesota Bruins U15 AAA team this season.

Players eligible for the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft are 2006-born players who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
