Spokane, WA - The Chiefs and Cougars met for the third time in four nights on Thursday, facing off in Game 5 of the Spokane Chiefs Playoffs presented by Numerica. The Chiefs avoided a first-round exit on Wednesday with a 3-2 victory and looked to send the series to a 6th game back in Prince George.

The home side was on the front foot in the first period, with double the shots on target compared to Prince George.

It was the Cougars finding the breakthrough at 8:07 of the second, with Souch scoring his fifth goal of the series.

Spokane answered back at 13:08 after Brody Gillespie danced down the boards and found Sam Oremba for the one-timer.

Terik Parascak scored his second of the playoffs with less than a minute to play in the period, giving the visitors a 2-1 lead after two.

Cougar forward Cooper Gizowski scored at 2:38 on the power play to make it a 3-1 game in the third.

Owen Martin brought one back at 9:20 with a power play goal of his own. Dominik Petr and Logan Wormald worked a shot on net before Martin sent it home on the rebound.

With just less than a minute to play and the extra attacker on the ice, Chiefs forward and Prince George native Chase Harrington stabbed it home to tie the game and send it to overtime.

The overtime period was hectic with chances at both ends of the ice. At 12:39, it was Chase Harrington sending the arena into pandemonium, and the series to Game 6. He picked up the puck along the wall, drifted towards the middle of the zone, and let it go from range before the puck found its way home.

Spokane totaled 40 shots on the night, with Carter Esler stopping 26 out of 29 Prince George shots.

Chase Harrington led Spokane attackers with two goals while Dominik Petr and Will McIsaac each recorded two assists.

The series will shift back to Prince George for Game 6 on Sunday, April 5 at 6 PM and if necessary, Game 7 on Monday night at 7 PM. Watch for FREE on Victory+ or listen at 103.5 The Game.
