Chiefs Open 2019-20 Regular Season with 4-3 Win in Kamloops

September 21, 2019 - Kamloops, B.C. - The Spokane Chiefs opened their 2019-20 regular season on a positive note, winning 4-3 in Kamloops on Friday night behind two goals from San Jose Sharks prospect Jake McGrew. The win marked the first for new head coach Manny Viveiros as well as rookie goaltender Lukas Parik. It was the Blazers who scored first as rookie forward and Kamloops product Logan Stankoven ripped his first career regular season goal past Czech netminder Lukas Parik - making his first start as a Chief - at 19:18 of the first period... Chiefs Release Goaltender Reece Klassen

September 18, 2019 - Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Wednesday that overage goaltender Reece Klassen has been released and cleared WHL waivers. "Given our numbers at the goalie position as well as our overage situation, this is a move we needed to make," said general manager Scott Carter. "We'd like to thank Reece for his time as a Spokane Chief and wish him the very best moving forward." Big Second Period Delivers Chiefs 3-1 Win over Americans

September 15, 2019 - KENNWEICK, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs used a three-goal second period Saturday night as they topped the Tri-City Americans 3-1. After falling behind 1-0 less than 90 seconds into the game, the defense clamped down, holding the Ams scoreless for the remaining 58:29. Forwards Erik Atchison and Bear Hughes each checked in with goals during the second period, as well as d-man Noah King in his first game back from NHL Camp with the New Jersey Devils. Chiefs Add Dustin Donaghy to Coaching Staff

September 10, 2019 - Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Tuesday that Dustin Donaghy has joined the hockey staff as a part-time assistant coach. "This is a great opportunity to learn from Manny (Viveiros) and Adam (Maglio), who are both guys who have achieved great success as coaches," said Donaghy. "I'm excited to help our players develop both on and off the ice." Donaghy, 30, played for the Chiefs from 2007-2009, including winning a WHL Championship and Memorial Cup with the 2007-08 squad.
