The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Salt Lake Bees 8-5 on Wednesday night.

Jose Rojas and Kaleb Cowart each hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to give the Bees a 2-0 lead. In the next frame, Sacramento responded with three runs to gain a 3-2 advantage.

The Bees were able to tack on one run in the fourth and traded runs with the River Cats in the fifth to tie the game at 4-4. Sacramento broke the tie in the top of the seventh with a solo shot and a two-run home run to make it 7-4. Taylor Ward was able to score off a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead 7-5. The River Cats used a sacrifice fly in the ninth to regain a three-run and held the Bees scoreless in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.

Alex Klonowski (0-5) was tagged with the loss as he pitched four relief innings and surrendered three runs on five hits. Salt Lake starter JC Ramirez went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits while striking out three as he continued his MLB Rehab assignment. The Bees bats collected 12 hits and were led by Cowart and Rojas, who each finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI. Rojas has now homered 22 times this season to tie Ward for the team-high and also leads the Bees with 76 RBI.

The Bees and River Cats finish their five-game series on Thursday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Smith's Ballpark. Tickets and more information is available at www.slbees.com.
