Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets extended their unbeaten streak(3-0-1) Wednesday night in Fort Wayne to four games with a 7-5 win over the visiting Mississippi RiverKings. 7,036 fans witnessed a scoring fest that featured five second period goals and six third period tallies.

The Komets opened the scoring in the first period with a pair to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Mississippi opened the second with a goal before the Komets rallied with three unanswered goals to finish the second frame with a commanding 5-1 edge.

The RiverKings were not to be denied in the third scoring three unanswered goals before the Komets scored their sixth goal of the night for a 6-4 lead. Mississippi pulled within one at 6-5 before the Komets put the game away with their seventh of the night with 1:21 remaining in the match.

Leo Thomas had a 2-goal night for Fort Wayne while Neil Musselwhite, Frankie DeAngelis, Tab Lardner, Chris Francis and Derek Patrosso each contributed with markers. DeAngelis, announced earlier in the day as a CHL All-Star pick, also added two assists for a three-point night and first-star of the game honors. Scoring for Mississippi were Darrell Stoddard, Derek Landmesser, Matt Summers, Patrick Levesque and R.G. Flath.

Komet goaltender Nick Boucher earned his seventh win of the season stopping 36 of 41 shots and extended his unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1). Alexander Pechurskiy started the game for the RiverKings allowing five goals on 23 shots before Larry Sterling entered in relief at the start of the second period and suffered his sixth loss making six saves on eight shots.

The Komets improve to 8-15-2 and Mississippi falls to 13-15-1 with their seventh straight road game without a win.

The Komets will be back in action Friday night to welcome in the New Year with the Quad City Mallards at 8pm in the 54th annual Fort Wayne New Year's Eve game. Still plenty of great seats remain and are on sale at the Coliseum ticket office and online at Ticketmaster .
