
Joey Sides to Skate in 2011 CHL All-Star Game

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. ¬" The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, today announced that forward Joey Sides has been named a reserve for the CHL All-Star Team in the 2011 CHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena in Rapid City, South Dakota.
This season's showcase game will pit the host Rapid City Rush against a team composed of CHL All-Stars from league's remaining 17 clubs.
Sides, 24, ranks second on the team in scoring with 25 points (11g/14a) in 26 appearances and currently owns a five-game point streak in which he has recorded 10 points (5g/5a).
After tallying just two goals and seven points in his first 16 games,
the second-year forward has picked up 18 points (9g/9a) and is plus-6 in his last 10 games and has notched five goals in his last four contests.
Sides is tops in the league when skating shorthanded, ranking first in points (5) and assists (3) while his two shorthanded goals are second-most in the CHL.
Reserve players were selected by CHL All-Star Team Co-Coaches Dwight Mullins (Allen Americans) and Scott Hillman (Missouri Mavericks) along with the CHL's Hockey Operations Department. All-Star Game starters were announced on December 23 via voting by CHL Head Coaches, team Communications Departments and select media members from CHL member cities.
