December 29, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League return to action tonight in Fort Wayne, Indiana, meeting the Komets in a 7:30 PM (Eastern time) faceoff. The RiverKings (13-14-1) meet the Komets (7-15-2) for the first time ever since five former International Hockey League teams joined the CHL during the past off-season.

Broadcast coverage of tonight's game with Media Coordinator Bob Bakken calling the action begins at 6:15 PM Central time on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM and www.sports56whbq.com. Tonight's game will also be available on CHL-TV through the RiverKings web site "Watch Live" button on the home page.

Fans who want to follow tonight's game may do so with a RiverKings Away Game Watch Party at the Southaven Buffalo Wild Wings location, 7188 Airways Boulevard, north of Goodman Road.

Mississippi fell to the Allen Americans 2-1 Sunday afternoon in the team's last action, with Jeff Christian netting the only goal of the game for the RiverKings, now in the midst of a five-game road swing. Goaltender Larry Sterling stopped 24 of 26 shots on net, but fell to 5-5-1 for the year with the loss in suburban Dallas, Texas.

The RiverKings tonight will be attempting to stop a string of six-straight non-victories on the road, including three straight regulation time losses. The six-game string dates back to November 25th and Mississippi has not won on the road since December 10th.

Louis Dumont and Nathan Lutz have been the team's top point producers in recent action, with Dumont scoring a goal and adding five assists for six points in his last five games. Lutz, a starter on this year's CHL All-Star team, have netted a pair of goals and added three assists for five points in his last five.

At the crease, Alexander Pechurskiy is 2-3-0 with a 1.68 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage in Mississippi's last five games.

The three-time IHL champion Komets have struggled mightily since coming into the CHL this season, but have now earned standings points in its last three games (2-0-1, 5 points). The Komets stopped the Dayton Gems 4-2 in their last outing at home Monday night.

Following tonight's game, the RiverKings move on to play the Evansville IceMen in a 7:30 PM (Central time) game tomorrow night. That game will be aired on 87.7 "The Pig," WPGF-FM at 7:20 PM.

Next home action for Mississippi at the DeSoto Civic Center will be January 2nd against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The 3:05 PM contest will spotlight on the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance of Memphis as the game's non-profit MVP.
