Vote Justin Aikins into the CHL All-Star Game

BOSSIER CITY, LA - You can vote Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs forward Justin Aikins into the 2011 CHL All-Star Game through the Central Hockey League All-Star Fan Vote, underway now on the league ¬â¢s Facebook page. For the first time ever, fans can vote on the 19th member of this year ¬â¢s CHL All-Star Team, which will take on the Rapid City Rush on January 12 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The four candidates for fans to choose from are Aikins, Colorado forward Riley Nelson, Missouri forward Nick Sirota and Odessa forward Todd Robinson. The player who earns the most first place votes between today and Friday, December 31 at 5:00 PM CST will earn the final all-star spot.
The only place to vote is on the CHL ¬â¢s Facebook page (fans can access by visiting www.centralhockeyleague.com). One randomly selected lucky fan who votes for the winning player will win a CHL Prize Pack and 1,000 CHL Loyalty Rewards points. Aikins leads the Mudbugs in scoring and ranks fourth in the CHL with 38 points this season on 11 goals and 27 assists, despite missing four games due to injury. The University of New Hampshire graduate is also tied for fourth in the league with a +15 rating and has recorded 11 multi-point games while being held pointless just five times.
A win in the fan vote would put Aikins alongside teammate David Rutherford, who was voted in as a starter, as the two Mudbugs representatives in this year ¬â¢s CHL All-Star Game. The White Rock, British Columbia native has one prior All-Star appearance in his career, skating in the ECHL All-Star Game in 2006.
The 2011 CHL All-Star game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, South Dakota and will feature the host Rapid City Rush taking on a team of CHL All-Stars comprised of players from the remaining 17 CHL clubs. Starters for the All-Star team were announced last week and the reserves were unveiled earlier today.
