
Mavericks' Goaltender Rob Nolan Selected to All-Star Game; Nick Sirota Finalist for Fan Vote

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri ¬" The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today Missouri Mavericks' goaltender Robby Nolan along with 11 other reserves will play for the CHL All-Star team in the 2011 CHL All-Star Game scheduled for Wednesday, January 12 at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena in Rapid City, South Dakota. Also, Mavericks' forward Nick Sirota is one of four finalists of the CHL's fan vote in which one of the four players will be added to the team through voting on the CHL's Facebook page.
The CHL All-Star team will play against the host Rapid City Rush in the home team versus all-stars format. The reserves were selected by the two men who earned the co-coaches positions thanks to their team's winning percentage at the Christmas break (end of games of Dec. 23), Allen's Dwight Mullins and Missouri's Scott Hillman, along with the CHL Hockey Operations Department.
Nolan is 12-4-2 this season with two shutouts and he leads the league with a 1.96 goals against average. After starting the season 0-1-2, Nolan has gone 12-3-0 including seven wins out of his last eight appearances.

The six starters who were announced last week are forwards David Rutherford (Bossier-Shreveport), Neil Trimm (Laredo) and Sebastien Thinel (Odessa), defensemen Nathan Lutz (Mississippi) and Darcy Campbell (Rio Grande Valley) and goaltender Kyle Jones (Colorado).
The Central Hockey League also announced today the details for the first ever CHL Facebook Fan Vote, presented by CHL Loyalty Rewards. The contest will give fans the opportunity to determine the 19th and final player for the 2011 CHL All-Star team.
Mavericks' forward Nick Sirota, Bossier-Shreveport forward Justin Aikins, Colorado forward Riley Nelson and Odessa forward Todd Robinson are the four finalists. The player who earns the most first place votes between now and Friday, December 31 at 5:00 PM CST will earn the final all-star spot.
The only place to vote is on the CHL's Facebook page (fans can access by visiting www.centralhockeyleague.com).
Sirota is a second-year pro who leads the balanced attack of the Turner Conference leading Mavericks with 25 points (12-1325) and is a +11 on the season. He has been hot lately scoring seven goals with five assists in his last 10 games.
The Mavericks are home for a New Year's Eve showdown with the Colorado Eagles on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at Independence Events Center. The team will also host post-game New Year's festivities. The Mavs will then kick off 2011 with a January 1 game against Quad City.
