CHL All-Star Team Reserves Announced

TEMPE, AZ (December 29, 2010) -The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the 12 reserves that will play for the CHL All-Star team in the 2011 CHL All-Star Game scheduled for Wednesday, January 12 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena in Rapid City, South Dakota. The CHL All-Star team will play against the host Rapid City Rush in the home team versus the all-stars format. The reserves were selected by the two men who earned the co-coaches positions thanks to their team ‚¬â„¢s winning percentage at the Christmas break (end of games of Dec. 23), Allen ‚¬â„¢s Dwight Mullins and Missouri ‚¬â„¢s Scott Hillman, along with the CHL Hockey Operations Department.

Of the 12 reserves, only the Americans Bruce Graham has CHL all-star experience (Graham played in last year ‚¬â„¢s game in Laredo). The look for this year ‚¬â„¢s team is younger than in years past with an average age of 25.5 for the 12 selected reserves. Bloomington ‚¬â„¢s Jason Dale is the youngest member of the team at 22-years-old, followed closely by a trio of 24-year-olds in Arizona ‚¬â„¢s Joey Sides, Fort Wayne ‚¬â„¢s Frankie DeAngelis and Quad City ‚¬â„¢s Mike McLean.

The reserve goaltenders selected are Missouri ‚¬â„¢s Robby Nolan (12-4-2) who leads the league with a 1.96 goals against average and Dayton ‚¬â„¢s Jeff Jakaitis (12-9-1) who is fifth in the league with a 2.54 goals against average and second with a .930 save percentage.

Joining DeAngelis along the blue line are Tulsa ‚¬â„¢s Derek Eastman, Texas ‚¬â„¢ Jason Krischuk and Allen ‚¬â„¢s David Strathman.

Rounding out the reserve forwards are Evansville ‚¬â„¢s Brian Bicek and Wichita ‚¬â„¢s Matt Robinson.

The six starters were announced last week and also reflect numerous first-timers with five of the six voted in by CHL Coaches, CHL Communication ‚¬â„¢s Staffs and select media members being first time CHL all-stars. The starters are forwards David Rutherford (Bossier-Shreveport), Neil Trimm (Laredo) and Sebastien Thinel (Od essa), defensemen Nathan Lutz (Mississippi) and Darcy Campbell (Rio Grande Valley) and goaltender Kyle Jones (Colorado).

A 19th member of the 2011 CHL All-Star team will be determined by the fans through voting on the CHL ‚¬â„¢s Facebook page beginning later on Wednesday. The finalist for the fan vote will be announced later today.
