December 29, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (December 29, 2010) - Marc-Antoine Gelinas made 27 saves and A.J. Gale and Troy Schwab provided the goals as the Wichita Thunder shut out the host Quad City Mallards 2-0 Wednesday night.
Gale pounced on a rebound seven minutes and six seconds into the game and roofed the puck for what would prove to be the only goal scored over the first two periods. After the Mallards spent most of the third period pressuring for an equalizer, Schwab fired home another rebound to seal the win for the Thunder with just 1:29 left in the game.
Defenseman Adam Maccarone returned to the Mallard lineup Wednesday evening after missing nine games while on CHL leave, but Quad City was forced to do without injured forwards Mike McLean, Tyler Shelast and Brandon Marino and sidelined goaltender Adam Russo.
The Mallards return to action Friday night against the Fort Wayne Komets on the road. The Flock next plays on home ice on Friday, January 7 at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. The first 1,000 fans ages 12 and under through the doors of the i wireless Center for that game will receive free kids' 40" wooden hockey sticks courtesy of CBS 4 and 97X.
