Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Malcolm Cameron, has been signed to a two year contract extension. The team is currently in third place in the West Division standings with a record of 36-18-8 and 80 points.

After missing the playoffs the last two seasons, the Ice Dogs are right in the thick of the playoff race, currently holding the third seed in the division with ten games remaining. The team already has a 29 point improvement over last year, just three points away from becoming the 10th biggest point turnaround in ECHL history. In addition to the point increase, Cameron was instrumental in developing the relationship with the Montreal Canadiens that has seen five players sent to Long Beach from the Canadiens' organization this season.

"Malcolm has been everything we anticipated he would be when we hired him", said Ice Dogs co-owner Barry Kemp. "This year our fans have seen a return to the kind of hockey the Ice Dogs have been accustomed to playing throughout most of our ten year history, and we're delighted that Malcolm has agreed to stay for two more years."

"My family and I are extremely happy to be staying in Long Beach, it's a great place to be", said Cameron. "We're building towards a winning tradition and I want to thank our owners Mr. Adams and Mr. Kemp for giving me and my family the opportunity to call Long Beach home."

The Ice Dogs play a crucial game tonight at Bakersfield, who currently lead Long Beach by three points. Tomorrow night the Ice Dogs return home to take on the Gwinnett Gladiators in the first ever meeting between the two teams. For ticket information, call (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com.
