Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA â The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced the unveiling of their fifth anniversary logo for the 2005-06 season. The logo was designed by The Joe Bosack Graphic Design Company in Piperville, Pennsylvania.
2005-06 will be the Reading Royals fifth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio (Columbus Chill 1991-98). Since their inaugural season in 2001-02, the Royals have ranked in the top three in average and overall attendance in the ECHL. In 2001-02 Reading ranked third in average and overall attendance. Nearly 220,000 fans (6,045 per game) attended Royals hockey games in their inaugural campaign. The following two seasons, Reading jumped to second place in average and overall attendance. The Royals organization has welcomed over 760,000 fans through the Sovereign Center gates in the first three-plus seasons of operation. For the first time last season, the Royals made a Kelly Cup Playoff appearance. Reading celebrated the season with a Northern Division Title and came within a goal of the Kelly Cup Finals.
Royals general manager Ray Delia believes the fans' support has brought the organization the success it has enjoyed, "Our four seasons have brought so many fantastic memories! As we look forward to Year 5, we will continue our quest for the Kelly Cup, while consistently offering quality, family affordable entertainment to Berks County. We are truly indebted to our fans and sponsors and humbled by their unwavering support over the years. That support is what makes this hockey club the model by which all other AA hockey teams are measured."
The fifth anniversary logo features the Roman numeral V to symbolize the fifth season. A lion paw cuts through the logo with five prints busting through the logo. The theme in the fifth season will be âQuest for Victory', which incorporates the new logo. The logo features the Royals traditional color scheme of purple, silver and black.
