Peoria native Cheesman Signed; Rookie Ramsay Loaned from Worcester

Peoria, Ill. (March 22, 2005) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie forward and Peoria native Bo (Michael) Cheesman has been signed and added to the roster. Christie also announced that rookie forward Ryan Ramsay has been loaned from the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats, on a conditioning assignment.

Cheesman – a 6-foot-2, 197-pound native of Peoria, Ill. – recently completed a four-year NCAA Division I career at Lake Superior State University, posting 49 points (26g, 23a) in 144 career games. As a Senior, the 23-year-old served as Team Captain and was named one of 15 finalists for the 2005 Hockey Humanitarian Award. As a Junior, he notched career bests in goals (11), assists (7) and points (18) and was named the Team's Most Valuable Forward for his efforts. He is one of just four Peoria natives to ever wear a Rivermen uniform; Brian Hamilton, Jim Mullin and Steve Ortman are the others.

Ramsay – a 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Ajax, Ontario – has registered 16 points (6g, 10a) and 38 games with Worcester before going down to injury on February 23. The 21-year-old enjoyed a five-year Major Junior "A" career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), spending approximately two years each with three teams – Peterborough Petes, Kitchener Rangers and the Plymouth Whalers. He tallied a career-best Major Junior season in 2002-2003 with Plymouth in goals (33), assists (55) and points (88).

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL – The Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Rivermen host the rival Johnstown Chiefs on Tuesday, March 22 and Wednesday, March 23. Game time both nights is 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Friday, March 25, the Rivermen host the Wheeling Nailers. Game time is 7:30 p.m. All fans will receive a subscription to the Sporting News. On Saturday, March 26, Peoria and Wheeling battle again. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Duffle Bag, courtesy of OSF – St. Francis Medical Center and the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
