Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH â The Dayton Bombers on Tuesday afternoon announced three player moves before the 3:00 PM ECHL trade deadline. Goaltender SIMON LAJEUNESSE was sent to the San Diego Gulls (ECHL) to complete a trade from earlier this season. Forward JEFF SZWEZ was recalled by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. And forward ALEX KOJEVNIKOV was acquired from the Greenville Grrrowl (ECHL) for financial considerations.
LAJEUNESSE was sent to San Diego to complete the trade that sent Grady Moore to the Gulls, and brought Brett Nowak to the Bombers (from Atlantic City) on February 3, 2005. In 10 games with the Bombers, Lajeunesse posted a record of 2-4-1 and a GAA of 2.80. He has appeared in 22 total games this season with Fresno, Gwinnett and Dayton (5-12-1, 3.20 GAA).
SZWEZ, who was acquired from the Pee Dee Pride on February 12, 2005, last appeared in the American Hockey League with the Binghamton Senators during the 2002-2003 season. In 18 games with the Bombers this season, the Etobicoke, Ontario native recorded 8 goals, 5 assists, 13 points and 20 penalty minutes (+6). Overall, Szwez has 24 goals, 17 assists, 41 points and 73 penalty minutes in 59 games with Pee Dee and Dayton.
KOJEVNIKOV has recorded 11 goals, 7 assists, 18 points and 46 penalty minutes in 56 games with the Greenville Grrrowl this season. Grrrowl Interim General Manager Ryan Stewart said, "Alex is a phenomenal skater with an NHL caliber shot. It simply boiled down to numbers as we prepare for the playoffs." Kojevnikov will wear number 12 with the Bombers.
The Bombers return to action Thursday night when they travel to The Sovereign Center to face the North Division-rival Reading Royals. Audio coverage, provided by Teamline, begins at 7:05 PM at daytonbombers.com.
