Hurricanes cause schedule change for Wranglers

Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers 2005-2006 game schedule has changed as a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Wranglers originally scheduled home game against the Texas Wildcatters on Friday, February 10 has been replaced with a Friday, November 4 match up against the expansion Phoenix Roadrunners. The Wildcatters will not field a team in 2005/2006 due to the aftermath of Hurricane Rita in its home city of Beaumont, Texas. Earlier this month, the Mississippi Sea Wolves were forced to withdraw from ECHL competition when Hurricane Katrina blasted through their home in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The Las Vegas Wranglers announced that, effective today, $5 from every ticket sold for the newly scheduled November 4 game will be donated to Hurricane Relief funds. Other fundraising activities and partners in the November 4 effort will be announced in the coming days.
"We're hopeful that we can turn the new November 4 date into a real contribution to the relief effort," said Wranglers' president and COO Billy Johnson. "Obviously, the impact of those storms to our team and fans is miniscule to what the victims have to endure."
Though the remaining 35 home dates and times remain unaffected, a handful of opponent changes to the Wranglers' for the remaining dates are a result in the loss of the Wildcatters this season, including the Alaska Aces and San Diego Gulls on February 7 and 14, respectively.
Las Vegas' road schedule, however, has been scrambled more significantly. The team opens its season against the Florida Everblades in Estero, FL on October 21 and 22. "The ECHL did a fantastic job in quickly responding to and protecting individual markets in the wake of a cumbersome and late-breaking situation," Johnson said.
The team's home opener pits the Wranglers against former Las Vegas IHL rival Utah Grizzlies on Tuesday, October 25 at 7:05. Wranglers' season ticket holders and mini-plan holders will be contacted in the coming days with regard to the slight home schedule change.
The Wranglers will practice on Saturday, October 8th from 7:50 am-8:50 am and from 8:15 pm-9:30 pm at the Las Vegas Ice center on 9295 W. Flamingo Road. Both Practices will be open to the public.
The Wranglers will open the 2005-06 home season at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday, October 25th at 7:05 pm against the Utah Grizzlies. Wranglers' ticket locations are the Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos' showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast and South Coast (opening in 2006) or at the Galleria Mall guest relations/ticket centers. Fans may also order tickets by phone at (702) 284-7777 or on the web at www.orleansarena.com. Fans may also visit www.lasvegaswranglers.com for individual game tickets and for information on Wranglers season seat packages or call (702) 471-7825 to contact the Wranglers office directly.
Las Vegas starts the 2005-06 season on the road at Florida on October 21st at 4:30 pm (PST). The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Seat packages to see the Wranglers play at the Orleans Arena for the upcoming 2005-06 season are now on sale, starting as low as $150.
