The Greenville Grrrowl claimed 4 of a possible 8 points with wins over Columbus and Florida, and losses to Greensboro and Florida. The defending Kelly Cup Champions are 14-12-2 after 28 games.
TUESDAY: The Grrrowl scored 4 goals on 22 shots in a 4-0 win at Columbus... JAYME PLATT recorded his second shutout in his last five starts...TYLER DIES scored 2 goals and 1 assist, while MATT DEMARSKI chipped in 3 assists.
FRIDAY: Greenville tested Greensboro goaltender Jamie Hodson with a season-high 54 shots, but dropped a 5-2 decision on the road... MATT DEMARSKI and JONATHAN ROY scored for Greenville in a losing effort.
SATURDAY: Head Coach JOHN MARKS recorded his 600th career coaching victory and JUDD MEDAK set a franchise record with 5 assists in a 5-4 OT win over the Florida Everblades. SHAUN FISHER scored the game-winner.
SUNDAY: The Grrrowl dropped a 3-1 decision to the Florida Everblades... it was game two of a 4-game homestand which continues Tuesday against Augusta (7:05 PM).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK â JUDD MEDAK
The Edmonton, Alberta native recorded 7 assists in 4 games last week. He set a new Greenville franchise record with 5 assists in a 5-4 overtime win over the Florida Everblades on Saturday at the BI-LO Center. He is currently in a 5-way tie for the Grrrowl scoring lead with 11-16-27 points.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK â JAYME PLATT
The Redmond, Washington native recorded his 3rd career shutout and his 2nd in his past 5 appearances in Tuesday's 4-0 win in Columbus. He recorded 36 saves. He went 1-1-0 last week with the sutout win in Columbus, and Friday's 5-2 loss in Greensboro. Platt is 3-1-0 in his last 4 starts.
THIS WEEK â The Grrrowl prepare for three games against division rivals
The Greenville Grrrowl host Augusta Tuesday, then open a home-and-home series with the Pee Dee Pride Friday night at the BI-LO Center. Tuesday's game is the third game of a 4-game homestand. Greenville plays just two more road games before the New Year (Saturday @ Pee Dee & New Year's Eve @ Charlotte).
TUE. 12/17 vs. AUGUSTA â The Grrrowl and Lynx prepare for their 3rd of 8 regular season meetings... Greenville won the first two meetings 2-1 on November 23rd and 6-2 on December 8th... NEXT MEETING: 1/3/03 @ Augusta.
FRI. 12/20 vs. PEE DEE â The Grrrowl and Pride square off in their 2nd of 8 meetings... Pee Dee won the first showdown, 3-1, at the BI-LO Center on November 2nd.
