Bullies Command Generals, Win 5-1

ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES 5 @ Greensboro Generals 1

Jim Henkel scored his first professional hat trick in the Bullies' 5-1 win against the Generals in Greensboro, N.C. Henkel tallied a power-play goal and the game-winning goal in the second period and topped it off with an even-strength tally to open the third period, extending his scoring streak to six games. Kevin Colley finished the game with four points on a shorthanded empty-net goal and three assists. J.F. Caudron added a goal with 44 seconds left in the game. Scott Stirling made 41 saves, including 20 in the second period. Mark Turner scored the lone Generals goal on a power play 52 seconds into the third frame.

Bullies Relinquish Lead, Lose to Titans in Shootout Friday, December 13, 2002

ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES 3 @ Trenton Titans 4 (shootout)

The Bullies entered Friday's game against the Trenton Titans with a commanding three games to none lead in the Garden State Cup Series. But the Titans refused to stay down, defeating the Bullies, 4-3, in a shootout. Trenton jumped out to an early lead by scoring two first period goals. The Bullies answered with two first period tallies of its own; Jim Henkel scored on a four-on-four situation, assisted by Paul Spadafora, and Stefan Rivard scored on a power play to tie the game at two at the end of the first. Shawn Maltby made it 3-2 with a shorthanded goal at 14:45 in the second period. The Titans rallied and Adam Edinger scored a power-play goal to tie the game in the third period, forcing the game into overtime. After a scoreless extra period, the Titans managed to beat the Bullies in the shootout. Scott Stirling made 24 saves against his former team and Trenton's Cody Rudkowsky stopped 24 Bullies shots.

Cincinnati Cyclones 4 @ ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES 3 (shootout)

The Cyclones jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period before Bullies forward Scott Matzka tallied his first of the night off a pass from Paul Spadafora to pull within one goal.

Atlantic City played catch-up the rest of the game after ‘Clones' Bob Crummer netted his second even-strength goal of the night one minute and 34 seconds into the second period. Matzka brought the Bullies within striking distance again, converting a Cincinnati turnover into an unassisted short-handed goal just past the middle mark of the second frame.

Bullies' leading scorer Kevin Colley tied the game at three with a power-play goal at 10:49 in the third. Shawn Maltby worked the puck in the corner, dished it to Matzka behind the net who fed it to Colley for his 17th goal of the year.

After a scoreless overtime, Joe Cardarelli, who earned an assist on each Cincinnati goal, sealed the Cyclones victory by beating Bullies netminder Scott Stirling in the shootout.

Cincinnati goalie Greg Hewitt stopped 46 Bullies shots, including 19 in the third period. Stirling made 25 saves in the loss, making his record 9-2-3.

BULLIES BITES

Rookie Jim Henkel snapped a seven-game scoring streak yesterday...Henkel earned nine points (7G,2A) in seven games prior to last night's shootout loss to Cincinnati...Currently Kevin Colley and Shawn Maltby each is on a five-game scoring streak...Colley has nine points (3G,6A) in his last five games and Maltby has six points (2G,4A) in his last five...After last night's three-point performance on two goals and an assist, Scott Matzka now has six multiple-point games in 28 games this season...The Bullies are tied with Mississippi and Louisiana for the best record in the league...The Bullies are 16-6-6 with 38 points, tops in the Northeast Division and Northern Conference.
