Men O' War Win Fourth Straight at Rupp

Lexington, KY- The Lexington Men O' War beat two Northwest Division rivals this weekend at Rupp Arena. On Friday, the MOW downed the Toledo Storm 3-1.

The MOW returned to Rupp on Sunday and beat the Wheeling Nailers 2-1. In between, the MOW fell 7-2 to the Charlotte Checkers in Charlotte. This week, the MOW play another sandwich schedule with home games on Friday and Sunday with a Saturday road trip. On Friday, the high-scoring Reading Royals visit Rupp Arena for the first time ever. After Friday's game, the MOW hit the road for a game in Wheeling. The Men O' War return home on Sunday to take on the Johnstown Chiefs.

Friday, December 13th – Toledo 1 at Lexington 3

The Men O' War extended their unbeaten streak to three with a 3-1 win over the Toledo Storm on Friday night. Van Burgess, Brett Draney and Ben Story scored for the MOW. The win marked the first time this season the Men O' War have beaten the first-place Storm.

Saturday, December 14th– Lexington 2 at Charlotte 7

The Lexington Men O' War watched as the Charlotte Checkers snapped the longest winning streak of the season with a 7-2 win over the Men. Charlotte' s Walker McDonald scored two goals and assisted on another as the Checkers scored the highest goal total against Lexington this season. The Checkers snapped Lexington's season high three game winning streak. Mike Sgroi scored both Lexington goals on the power play.

Sunday, December 15th – Wheeling 1 at Lexington 2

The Men O' War won their fourth consecutive home game on Sunday night downing the Wheeling Nailers 2-1. Ben Storey and Alex Mathieu scored first period goals to provide the MOW with all the offense they needed. Mike Smith held the fort in goal stopping 33 of 34 shots. Murphy to Milwaukee Dan Murphy was recalled to the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals late Sunday night. This is Murphy's second recall of the season. Murphy was sent up to the Worcester Ice Cats on October 18th. He did not play during his first recall and was return to Lexington on October 23rd. Murphy has played 68 AHL games in his career with a 25-27-4 record and three shutouts. Van Burgess will be the emergency back-up goalie for the Men O' War.

UPCOMING GAMES......

On Friday, the MOW will host the Reading Royals, who enter the week with the highest goal total in the ECHL (116). The Royals are tied for second in goals allowed (114). On Saturday, the MOW make the trip to Wheeling to take on the Nailers. The game marks the team's second meeting with Wheeling this season. Lexington hosts Johnstown on Sunday. The MOW are 2-1 against the Chiefs.

MOW TRACKS...

Mike Smith is tied for second in the ECHL with a 2.36 GAA...Lexington scored a power play goal in every game this weekend to extend their streak to five straight games with a power play goal. The MOW have scored a power play marker in eight of their last nine games after going six straight games without a power play goal...Ben Storey was nominated for ECHL player of the week after recording four points (2g, 2a) over the weekend...Mark Smith recorded four assists this weekend...Jay Banach recorded his first point with an assist on Friday night... Lexington is the only team in the ECHL that has not allowed a shorthanded goal...The MOW are tied for fifth in the Coast with a 2.88 GAA.
