
Blades in Second Place Tie after Road Trip

The Florida Everblades picked up five out a possible six points on the road this past week and moved into a three way tie for second place in the ECHL's Southeast Division. Florida defeated the Columbia Inferno 3-2 on Friday night, fell to the Greenville Grrrowl 5-4 in overtime on Saturday night and defeated the Grrrowl 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Everblades hit the road to take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Friday night at 8:05 PM. Florida then hosts the Ice Pilots on Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 PM at TECO Arena. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM, NewsRadio 1660 AM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Mark Miller calling the play-by-play. Listen to the 'The Gerry Fleming Coaches Show' presented by Stevie Tomato's Sportspage on Sportsradio 770 AM every Monday night from 6:30-7:30 PM. Tonight's show will be on remote at the Naples location.
UPCOMING EVENTS/PROMOTIONS AT TECO ARENA: On Saturday December 21st and Sunday December 22nd at 7:30 PM the Everblades host the Pensacola Ice Pilots. On Saturday, December 28th and Sunday, December 29th TECO Arena hosts the 2002 Everblades College Classic Hockey Tournament featuring Cornell, Ohio State, Maine and Umass-Amherst. Face-off is slated for 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM on both days. On Monday, December 30th Champions On Ice visits TECO Arena. On New Year's Eve, Tuesday, December 31st the Everblades host the Columbus Cottonmouths. For tickets to any of these upcoming events please call 334-3309.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Ice Pilots will meet for the first time this season. Pensacola currently ranks in 5th place in the Southwest Division standings while Florida ranks tied for 2nd place in the Southeast. Florida holds a 16-5-3 record all-time against the Ice Pilots and a 7-3-1 record in Pensacola. Pensacola forward Louis Dumont leads the team in scoring with 7-19-26. Florida goaltender Rob Zepp is currently ranked first in the ECHL in goals against average with 1.78 and first in the ECHL in save percentage with a .943 SPCT. The Ice Pilots power play ranks 22nd in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 2nd. The Everblades powerplay currently ranks 23rd in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 13th.

Shawn Fisher scored his first goal in a Greenville uniform as the Grrrowl defeated the Florida Everblades 5-4 in overtime.

Cam McCormick stopped 25 of 26 shots as the Florida Everblades defeated the Greenville Grrrowl 3-1 in front of 4,035 at the BI LO Center. The Everblades finish the three game road trip earning five of a possible six points.

ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL player of the week nomination is forward Joe Blaznek. The Allen Park, Michigan native registered four goals and one assist this past weekend. He registered the Everblades first hat trick of the season in Florida's 5-4 OT loss on Saturday night and netted the game winning goal in the Everblades 3-1 win on Sunday.
ECHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL goaltender of the week nomination is Cam McCormick. The Kamloops, British Columbia native was 2-0-1 this past week including a 25 of 26 save performance in Sunday's 3-1 win in Greenville.
