Columbia Inferno News Release
Wednesday, December 18th at Greensboro Greensboro Coliseum Complex 7:00pm
This is the first of four meeting between the Inferno and Generals. The Inferno is 0-1-2 all-time against Greensboro. The Inferno look to get their first win all-time against the Generals.
Friday, December 20th vs. South Carolina Carolina Coliseum 7:05pm
The Inferno is 1-1-0 this season vs. the Stingrays and 6-3-1 all-time. This is the first game of three for the month of December.
Saturday, December 21st at Columbus Columbus Civic Center 7:00pm
The Inferno will travel to Columbus for the first time this season. Columbia opened their season with a 6-3 win against the Cottonmouths.
LAST WEEK
Thursday, December 12th COLUMBIA 3 Pee Dee 2 (OT)
The Columbia Inferno beat the Pee Dee Pride 3-2 with :53 seconds left in overtime. Pee Dee started the scoring off with a goal by Allan Sirois at the :22 second mark of the first period. Chris Pittman stole the puck from a Pee Dee Pride player on the penalty kill and shot the puck past goaltender Matt Underhill to score his first shorthanded goal of the season. Barrie Moore scored his fifth goal of the season on the power play at the 1:03 mark of the second period with assists from Justin Morrison and Rejean Stringer to give the Inferno the go ahead goal. The Pride tied the game at 7:40 with an even strength goal by Derek Halldorson to push the game to overtime. With only :53 second left in the overtime period, Justin Morrison's crisp pass to Rejean Stringer game him the perfect opportunity to score his 16th goal of the season and give the Inferno the win. Josh Blackburn stopped 34 out of 36 shots for the win.
Friday, December 13th Columbia 2 FLORIDA 3
Columbia scored two quick goals in the first period and was shut out for the remaining two as the Florida Everblades beat the Inferno 3-2. Corey Hessler scored the first goal for the Inferno at 14:48 of the first period on the power play with a pass from Shawn Wansborough. One minute later, Matt Ulwelling scored his sixth goal of the season with passes from Eric Labelle and Barrie Moore to give the Inferno a 2-0 lead. Florida Everblades George Awada scored on the power play at 17:46 of the second period to bring the Everblades within one goal. Ryan Murphy scored on another power play at the 1:39 mark of the third period to tie the game at two. With less than ten minutes left, Keith Anderson scored the game winner for the Florida Everblades.
Saturday, December 14th Columbia 2 AUGUSTA 3
The Augusta Lynx started the scoring in the first period with a goal by Andrew Williamson. The Lynx scored their second goal of the game 2:28 into the second period by Josh St. Louis. Erik Adams scored with :24 seconds left in the second period with an assist from Barrie Moore. St. Louis scored the game winner for the Lynx only 1:56 into the third period. Denis Martynyuk scored the last goal for the Inferno with assists by Regan Darby and Chris St. Croix.
