Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are pleased to announce goaltender Jamie Hodson has received ECHL Goalie of the Week honors for his performance last week. Hodson becomes the second Generals netminder to receive the Goalie of the Week award, with Daniel Berthiaume matching the feat two weeks ago. The Generals are the only team in the league to have two different goaltenders win the award this season.

Hodson, 22, was a perfect 2-0-0 for the week, with a 1.63 goals against average and a sparkling .964 save percentage. He saved 29 of 30 shots in a 3-1 victory over the Charlotte Checkers last Thursday. He topped that performance with an incredible 52-save effort in a 5-2 triumph over the defending Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl.

Hodson's overall record now stands at 4-3-1, with a 2.39 goals against average and .939 save percentage, both of which place him in the top five in the league in those categories.

Murphy earned runner-up recognition for his splendid week. Murphy recorded eight points on four goals and four assists in three games this week. His week was highlighted by scoring all three Generals goals in a 3-1 win over Charlotte for his second hat trick of the season, followed by a four-point performance (1g, 3a) the next night against Greenville. Mississippi defenseman Jim Baxter won the award with an eight-point performance of his own.
