Game Rewind The K-Wings played three games last week. The K-Wings concluded a 3 game road swing on Thursday (12/12) in Moline, Illinois, against the Quad City Mallards. Quad City would score the games first three goals, including two from Mike Possin. The K-Wings would get on the board early in the second period, when Michael Ford scored his 4th of the season to make the score 3-1, however it wouldn't be enough, as Quad City would add two more goals including Jason Goulet's second of the game to give the Mallards a 5-1 victory over the Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo would return home on Friday (12/13), as they hosted the Adirondack IceHawks at Wings Stadium. Adirondack would start the games scoring just 28 seconds into the opening period, when Hugo Belanger scored his 15th goal of the season to give the IceHawks a 1-0 lead. The K-Wings would answer back three minutes later when Richard Keyes (13) scored off a round to tie the game at 1-1. Kalamazoo would gain the lead at the 6:11 mark of the period when recently activated forward Glendon Cominetti scored his first of the season to give the K-Wings a 2-1 lead. Cominetti would strike again six minutes later as he scored his second of the game to give the Wings a 3-1 lead after the first period. The offensive explosion would continue in the second period, as the K-Wings would extend their lead to 4-1 on Keyes (14) second goal of the game. Adirondack would attempt a comeback as Belanger (16) and Dominic Chaisson (9) each scored goals to make the score 4-3 K-Wings heading into the third period. The K-Wings would net their 6th shorthand goal and their first hat trick of the season at the 3:31 mark of the period, when Keyes split the defense and beat backup goaltender Tyler MacKey to push the K-Wings ahead 5-3. Adirondack would add a goal in the final minute, but it wouldn't be enough as the K-Wings extend their home winning streak to 4 games with a 5-4 victory over Adirondack.
