BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads will hold their annual jersey auction to benefit the St. Luke's Children's Hospital on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (Dec. 16th, 18th, and 20th). The auction is presented by Foresters.

Kelly Knopp designed this years commemorative Idaho Steelheads Jersey while receiving a chemotherapy treatment at St. Luke's Children's Hospital. The logo design depicts a tenacious Steelhead with crossed hockey sticks. Kelly doesn't let anything get in his way of pursuing his passion for art, let alone cancer. Kelly had always been active and healthy, until last August when an unexpected seizure sent him to the emergency room. With no previous history of seizures, doctors were quick to order blood tests. When the results came back, Kelly never expected to hear the doctors tell him that he had cancer.

"I didn't know what to do, I was in shock" said Kelly, but thankfully the team at St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute knew exactly what to do.

Kelly was placed on a regimen of aggressive chemotherapy that initially left him feeling sick and weak. Now over a year later, Kelly's is regaining his strength and weight. Kelly credits the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's for their caring and effective treatment, adding wryly, "I just do what I'm told."

The players will wear the jerseys for the three games, and they will be auctioned off with other great sports memorabilia on December 20th. A team signed jersey is also being auctioned off on the Steelheads website, at www.idahosteelheads.com. All money raised goes directly to the Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit at St. Luke's Children's Hospital.

To date, nearly $50,000 has been raised for St. Luke's Children's hospital.
