Grizzlies Add Defenseman Escobedo

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies announced today that they have signed defenseman Brian Escobedo.

The 23-year-old Bayside, New York native played eight games with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder this season, tallying two assists and eight penalty minutes in seven games.

Last season, Escobedo played 49 ECHL games with Peoria, Mississippi, Charlotte and Augusta, scoring six goals and adding eight assists for 14 points. During those stops, he played for Grizzlies head coach Jason Christie in Peoria. In Augusta, he was with current Grizzlies assistant coach Chuck Weber for 11 games. He also spent eight games in Mississippi with current Utah forwards Louis Dumont and Anthony Battaglia.

The Grizzlies open a three-game home stand tonight hosting Phoenix at the E-Center. It is "Family Feast Night" with select concession items on sale for $1.
