Everblades make changes to roster

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Bogdan Rudenko (ROO-den-KOH) was signed to a contract for the 2005-06 season. In separate moves, the Everblades also placed defenseman Bryce Charpentier on the 7-day injured reserve list and activated forward Paul Cabana from the 7-day IR.

Rudenko joins the Everblades after spending last season with the Charlotte Checkers for 19 regular season games, scoring 16 points (8g, 8a) and chipping in six points (5g, 1a) in 15 Kelly Cup playoff games. 2005-06 will be the 28-year-old's ninth professional season, having spent time in the ECHL, United Hockey League and West Coast Hockey League.

The native of Kamenogorski, Kazachstan has totaled 309 points (154g, 155a) in 420 professional games with nine different teams since his professional debut in 1997-98 with Quad City of the UHL. Rudenko's best season came in 2002-03 as a member of the Adirondack IceHawks of the UHL when he tallied 65 points (34g, 31a) in 74 games. Overall in his pro career Rudenko has played with the Colorado Gold Kings and Idaho Steelheads of the WCHL (1998-00), the Quad City Mallards, Asheville Smoke and Adirondack of the UHL, and the Wheeling Nailers, Columbus Cottonmouths, Jackson Bandits and Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL.

Prior to turning pro, Rudenko spent two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Kitchener, Kingston and Sarnia, picking up 28 points in 72 OHL games from 1995-97.

Charpentier moves to the IR after skating in five games with the Everblades this season. Last season Charpentier skated in 40 games with the Everblades notching six points (1g, 5a) and adding 149 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old began the 2004-05 season with the Peoria Rivermen before being acquired by the Everblades in a December trade.

Cabana, 27, returns to the lineup after for the first time since November 5. The Calgary, Alberta native is the Everblades second leading scorer this season with five points (3g, 2a) in four games. Last season Cabana saw action in just seven regular season games with the Everblades last year, scoring six points (1g, 5a), but his biggest contribution came during the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs where he tallied 17 points (7g, 10a) in 17 of the Everblades post-season games, which ranked third on the team.

The Everblades host the Charlotte Checkers on Friday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena!
