ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Mike Scott had a goal and two assists and Chris Minard scored twice as Alaska beat Las Vegas for the second straight night, 4-1, in front of 3,998 Thursday at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces completely dominated a first period marred by penalties, out-shooting the Wranglers 13-3 and taking the lead for good on a one-timer by Scott from between the circles at 8:31. Cam Keith flicked in a rebound of an Olivier Filion shot 51 seconds later to push the margin to 2-0. With 5:27 left in the period and the Aces enjoying a five-on-three power play, Scott fed Minard in front of the net for Alaska's third goal against beleaguered goaltender Marc Magliarditti, who finished with 24 saves.

The Wranglers drew within 3-1 when Sean O'Connor blasted a slap shot by Aces goalie Matt Underhill from the right circle with 7:22 remaining in the second period, but otherwise, Las Vegas mustered very little offense and was out-shot 11-6 in the frame even while Magliarditti prevented further damage. Scott again set up Minard for the empty-netter that sealed the outcome with 47 seconds left in regulation. Underhill stopped all 12 shots he faced over the final 20 minutes to improve his personal record to 4-3-1.

Alaska now sits atop the West Division alongside Idaho with 18 points and an 8-3-2 overall record, with the final game of its three-game series with Las Vegas scheduled for Saturday at 2:05 p.m. ADT. Fans may participate in Alaska's "Toys for Tots" efforts, in conjunction with the U.S. Marines, by bringing plush toys to throw onto the ice when the Aces score their first goal against the Wranglers (6-3-1).

All Aces games, home and away, will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all Alaska home games are available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
