Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Jeff State (6'7"/244 lbs.) has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. This is the first AHL call-up of the season for State, who has appeared in 49 AHL games in his four year career, scoring a goal and picking up three assists and 131 penalty minutes in those games. State had appeared in all nine games for the Royals this season, racking up 47 penalty minutes and playing at a +2.

The Royals next game is Friday night at the Sovereign Center against the Dayton Bombers (7:00 p.m.). Reading will wear New Orleans Brass commemorative jerseys that night, which will be auctioned off after the game with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the victims of the recent natural disasters in the Gulf Coast and Florida. Fans will also receive a Cody Rudkowsky trading card courtesy of the American Red Cross. On Saturday night, the South Carolina Stingrays visit the Sovereign Center for the one and only time in the regular season this year. Hockey's most prestigious prize, the Stanley Cup will be at the Sovereign Center that night. Fans will have an opportunity to have a photograph taken with the Cup, as the Royals, the ECHL, and NHL join forces to raise money and awareness for the victims of the recent hurricanes in the southern United States. The Royals and Reick's Printing will also give away a pack of fan favorite player cards from the Royals' inaugural season (2001-02). This is the first in a series of five player card giveaways commemorating the fifth anniversary season of the Royals.
