Dayton Bombers News Release
Reading, PA - The Dayton Bombers dropped a 6-3 decision to the Reading Royals in front of 4,866 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania Friday night. Bombers rookie defenseman Mark Flood scored two goals in the losing effort.
The Bombers opened a 1-0 lead early in the first period when rookie forward Tim Konsorada notched his third goal of the season just 49 seconds into the game. The Royals countered with a powerplay during a 5-on-3 advantage when Greg Hogeboom beat Andrew Penner at 13:25, and it was 1-1 after 20 minutes.
The teams exchanged goals, again, in the second period. The Royals opened a 2-1 lead with another powerplay goal from Mike Pandolfo at 12:18. Bombers rookie defenseman Mark Flood tied the game with a powerplay goal of his own at 18:20, and it was 2-2 after two periods.
Back -to-back goals from Mike Kompon (1:00) and T.J. Kemp (2:27) gave the Royals a 4-2 lead early in the third period. Mark Flood pulled the Bombers back within one with his second goal of the game, on the powerplay, at 10:39. But Jon Francisco gave Reading a 5-3 lead at 12:19 of the third period. And John Morlang scored an empty net goal, leading the Royals to the 6-3 win.
The Royals outshot the Bombers 40-29, and Andrew Penner suffered the loss in goal for Dayton.
The Dayton Bombers, proud "AA" affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, are celebrating their 15th Anniversary this season. The Bombers return home tomorrow (Saturday) night to host the Stockton Thunder at 7:05 PM. For tickets and information, call the Bombers' office at 937-775-4747.
