The Mavericks were awarded their first power play of the game at 3:40 of the extra session when Nikita Borodaenko was sent off for a high stick.
Bobo Carpenter recorded the game-winner at 5:01, firing a wrist shot from the slot through a double screen and beat Davis for his 12th of the year.
Wichita suffered its second shutout of the year to Jack LaFontaine and third overall.
