Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will host the San Diego Gulls on Tuesday night for the "Gotta Have Sole" Shoe Collection.

The shoe drive is sponsored by KGEO AM 1230 and Tel-Tec Security. Anyone bringing a pair of new or used shoes to the game will receive a free terrace ticket to the game. American General Media headquarters on Easton Drive, Tel-Tec Security at 5020 Lisa Marie Ct., and the Condors Closet across from Centennial Garden on Truxtun Avenue are all serving as drop-off points prior to the game. The shoes will be donated to the Bakersfield Homeless Center, run by Bethany Services.

Tuesday's game is also the second San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District "Please Don't Light Tonight" game. This promotion runs four times throughout the season. If the Condors shutout out their opponent (in other words, prevent them from "lighting the lamp"), everyone in attendance can redeem their ticket stub at the box office for a free ticket to the next PDLT game on January 19th.

In addition, for every home game in December, Condors fans can receive $2 off their price of admission by presenting their Bakersfield Californian Press Pass.

The haircuts will continue as well, despite the team dropping their bid to win ten in a row on Sunday. A home-winning streak of four games is still intact, and The Hot Spot salon will again perform the honors at the game. Head Coach Paul Kelly started up the shaving when he made a vow to his team prior to a three-game weekend. Not only did they win those games, but continued to win their next six, and the front office got on board with the head shavings as well. The Hot Spot has been helping to initiate fans into the "Condors Army" and near 100 people have joined the buzzed ranks. The Hot Spot is located at 4200 Gosford Road, and is owned and operated by Condors Legends Club member Glen Mears and his wife, Amber.

Joe Cannon, from the U.S. Marine Corps, will return to sing the National Anthem again this Saturday. Every home win for the Condors this season has come when Cannon steps behind the microphone.

The team leaves for a three-game set in Anchorage this weekend, departing Bakersfield on Thursday. Due to the Thursday departure, the "Condors Coach' s Show" will take place on Wednesday night, from 6-7pm at the Holiday Inn Select and live on KGEO AM 1230. The scheduled guests are defenseman David Bell and rookie winger Nate Anderson, as well as the weekly appearance by Head Coach Paul Kelly. Call-ins are welcome during the show at 631-1230, or fans can join the show live and have the chance to win Condors prizes.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.

Condors droppings: The Condors telecasts on Time Warner Cable begin on Friday, December 13th at home against the Fresno Falcons. They can be seen on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21 (Digital Cable Ch. 21 as well) every Friday throughout the remainder of the regular season. On Friday's when the Condors are not playing, or are on the road, one of the "Condors Classics" will air. They have been selected from past telecasts as memorable moments during the team's first four seasons.
