BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads have given their fans lots to cheer about this holiday season having swept the Anchorage Aces over the Thanksgiving weekend and winning nine consecutive games at home.

Idaho is leading the West Coast Hockey League with a record of 15-4-2, and several Steelheads players are tops in the league for scoring; Joe Rybar is first in the league with 25 points, and Scott Swanson is close behind for second spot with 24 points. Swanson is also leading the league in assists with 22. Rookie honors go to Michal Pinc who is second in the league with 9 points, and Martin Vasut who is leading all rookies in assists with 7. The Steelheads also have the best power play record at 25.6%, and best penalty kill allowing only 14 goals in 125 total shots.

Transactions: Steelheads signed defenseman A.J. Begg on November 27.

Practice Schedule: The Steelheads will practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week from 10:00 a.m. - Noon. All practices are open to the media and public.

In the Community: The Steelheads teamed up with the United States Marine Corps and Booster Club to raise "Toys for Tots." Over 1,000 stuffed animals were collected for children in need on Saturday night when fans threw the toys onto the ice after the Steelheads scored their first goal.

Also, the hockey team is selling Christmas stockings filled with lots of Steelheads goodies including tickets to Steelheads games. Stockings, valued at $100, are being sold for $50.00 with 10% of all sales going to help the United Way of Treasure Valley.

Up Next: The Steelheads take a short California road trip to play the Ice Dogs in Long Beach on Friday, December 6, and travel to San Diego for one game on Sunday, December 8. They return home to play Long Beach for a three-game series beginning Friday, December 13.
