Bakersfield Condors News Release

Wednesday, November 27 Condors Set Franchise Win Record on the Road

The Condors never trailed and scored a power play goal late to take a 3-2 win over the Long Beach Ice Dogs for their seventh straight victory. Jason Ralph scored in the first to take over the team lead in goals, Jon Sorg scored in the second period for his third of the season, and Jimmy Drolet's tally with just 1:52 remaining led to the victory. Kevin St. Pierre stopped 24 of 26 for his league leading 10th win of the season. Ralph extended his goal-scoring streak to four games (5g) and Drolet scored for the second game in a row. The Condors improved to 6-0 on the road this season, setting a franchise record for consecutive road wins.

Condors Pull Out Another in San Diego

Bakersfield got on the board early, relinquished the lead, and finally regained it in the third period to take a road victory over San Diego. Jason Jackman and Jimmy Drolet scored in the first four minutes of the game to lead 2-0 in the first period. The Gulls came back with a first period goal and a pair in the second frame to comeback and take the 3-2 lead over the Condors. It wouldn't last, however, as Paul Willett scored on the power play late in the second period to tie the game at 3-3 heading into the third. Willett set up the game winner with less than seven minutes remaining as he fed Jason Ralph in front of the Gulls goal for a one-timer and the 4-3 lead. The goal was the ninth of the season for Ralph, who leads the team in goals, and it extended his goal-scoring streak to five games.

St. Pierre Gets the Shutout, and the Kids Get the Teddy Bears

On the fourth annual Teddy Bear Toss Night at Centennial Garden on Saturday night, a season-high 7,968 witnessed a 3-0 shutout of the Long Beach Ice Dogs by the Condors. Paul Rosebush scored in the first period, Nate Anderson in the second and Christian Skoryna in the third, while Kevin St. Pierre stopped all 29 shots he faced for his second blanking of the year. The crowd was the fourth largest in franchise history, and the win was the fourth in a row on home ice for Bakersfield. Their nine-game winning streak is two off of the franchise record of 11 straight, set at the beginning of the 99-00 season. Over 4,600 stuffed animals were collected bringing the four-year total close to 13,000.

All Good Things Must Come to an End

The Condors returned to Long Beach yesterday only to suffer a reversal of fortune. Long Beach stifled Bakersfield's offense, and returned the favor by turning in a 3-0 shutout of the Condors. Tomas Hradecky scored the game-winner late in the second, and set up one of two insurance goals in the third period to halt the Condors winning streak. Fredrik Jensen suffered the loss for Bakersfield, while B.J. Boxma stopped all 22 Condors shots for the blanking. It was the first time this season that Bakersfield, who entered the game with the league's second best offense, had been shut out.
