Van Burgess Records First Hat Trick for Men O' War

Lexington, KY- The Lexington Men O' War went 1-1 this week. The MOW lost in Dayton on Thanksgiving 5-2. Lexington rebounded on Saturday with a 5-2 home win over the Roanoke Express. In the game, Van Burgess recorded the first hat trick in team history. This week the MOW are home for three games in four nights. The Peoria Rivermen will visit Rupp on Thursday and Saturday. On Sunday, the Dayton Bombers return to Lexington for the second time this year.

Thursday, November 28th – Lexington 2 at Dayton 5

Dayton, OH – Chapter Four of the Lexington Men O' War and Dayton Bombers rivalry continued on Thanksgiving night in Dayton with the Bombers winning 5-2 over Lexington. Chris M. Thompson scored 8:16 into the third period to end Lexington's three-game winning streak over Dayton. The Bombers scored three times in the third to break their own four-game losing streak. Alex Mathieu scored both Lexington goals in the loss.

Saturday, November 30th– Roanoke 2 at Lexington 5

Van Burgess recorded the first hat trick in Men O' War history on Saturday night. Burgess struck twice in the first and once in the third as the MOW recorded a 5-2 win over the Roanoke Express. The goals were Burgess' sixth, seventh and eighth of the season. Marc-Andre Thinel and Ben Storey each had a goal and two assists.

THINEL DEBUTS WITH A BANG

Marc-Andre Thinel lit a fire under the MOW offense in his debut on Saturday night. Thinel recorded a goal and two assists against the Express. Thinel assisted on two of Burgess' hat trick goals. Thinel arrived from the Utah Grizzlies on Thursday. Thinel is a second year pro who has only played at the American Hockey League Level. Last season in 73 games with the Quebec Citadelles Thinel posted 10 points with six goals and four assists. His final season is junior hockey Thinel torched the nets with 62 goals and 88 assists in 70 games for 150 points. His final three seasons in junior, the 21-year old averaged 128 points.

UPCOMING GAMES......

The Men O' War are home for a hat trick of division games this weekend. The weekend starts with a pair against Peoria. The Rivermen visit Rupp for the first time this season on Thursday and Saturday. The MOW lost 3-2 in OT at Peoria on October 18th. On Sunday, Dayton comes calling. Lexington has won three of four meetings with the Bombers this year.

MOW TRACKS...

Van Burgess was nominated for ECHL Player of the Month with 13 points (8G-5A) in 12 games in November. Burgess also recorded a +7 rating during the month...Lexington is the only ECHL team to not allow a shorthanded goal this season...Mike Smith is 6th among ECHL goalies with a 2.51 goals against average.
