Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets record after 21 games into the 2002-03 season is 12-8-1 for 25 points and a 3-way tie for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference of the UHL after going 0-2-1 for the Thanksgiving week. Despite gaining only 1 point in the 3 games played last week, the Komets had their best UHL November record since joining the league in 1999. For November the K's were 8-5-1 for a .595 point percentage besting their previous November best of 8-6-1 or .567 point percentage in 1999.
The week started with the Komets dropping a 1-0 Thanksgiving night affair to the visiting Missouri River Otters. It was the first time this season the Komets were held scoreless and the only the 4th time at home since joining the UHL. Komet goalie Tom Lawson allowed one goal on 25 shots for the loss in his 9th straight appearance.
Friday the Komets traveled to Rockford and suffered their first shootout loss of the season 4-3. Komet goalie Pokey Reddick made 17 saves on 20 shots in regulation and gave up 2 goals on 6 attempts in the extra frame. It was Reddick's first appearance since Nov. 8 when he saw 20 minutes of action in Kalamazoo. David-Alexandre Beauregard, Kelly Perrault and Sean Venedam scored in regulation for the Komets. Dustin Virag had the only Komet shootout tally.
Saturday the Komets returned home to face the waiting River Otters who had the previous night off. Missouri took the win 4-1 and the weekened series 2-0. Virag scored the lone Komet goal. Lawson fell to 9-5-0 on the season allowing 4 Missouri goals on 29 shots.
The Komets are off until they host Muskegon this Friday night at 7:35pm in the first of a weekend home double-header. It's the Komet's first look at Muskegon this season and the first of 4 visits by the Fury to the new coliseum.
Saturday the conference rival Port Huron Beacons make their 2nd visit of the season at 7:35. The Komets are 1-2-0 vs the first-place Beacons so far this season after taking a 6-2 win at Port Huron Nov. 17 in their last meeting.
Sunday the Komets make their 2nd trip of 6 to conference rival Flint. The Komets shut out the Generals 3-0 in their first meeting Nov. 2 at the I.M.A. Arena.

Komet defense still UHL's stingiest.....the Komet's defense continues to be the stingiest in the UHL allowing only 52 goals in 21 games for a league best 2.48 goals against per game and 24.6 shots against per game.
Milestones on the edge......David-Alexandre Beauregard 99 UHL career assists.....Jason Selleke has 99 career points.....Kelly Perrault 199 pro points.
Rising attendance.....Fort Wayne attendance averaged 6,982 for the 2 games over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Komet Thanksgiving game was witnessed by a crowd of 7,504. It was the 2nd highest attended game this season for the Komets and the highest Thanksgiving crowd for a Fort Wayne game since Nov. 27, 1997, when the IHL Komets lost 3-1 to Grand Rapids in front of 7,660 fans.
Marathon/Komets Fill Up Cards are back.....once again this year, the Komets have teamed with Marathon to offer fans a chance to get gas at Marathon for a free Komet ticket offer. 3 fill-ups stamped on a Marathon/Komet Fill Up card gets customers a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket offer good on select Marathon nights at Komet home games all season long. Komet Marathon Fill Up Cards are available at all participating Marathon stations. A Fill Up Card can also be found on the Komet's 2002-03 pocket schedule. Fill Up cards must be redeemed at the Coliseum Ticket Office. The next Marathon Night is this Saturday night, Dec. 7, when the Komets host Port Huron at 7:35.
Get in the Zone.....the Komets and Hagerman Construction, the main contractor for the renovation of the Memorial Coliseum, have set up the "Komet Construction Zone" for the 2002-03 season giving local children's organizations a chance to see Komet hockey. 50 tickets to sit free in the "Construction Zone" will be donated to a local children's organization. In addition to the free tickets, groups will receive official Hagerman construction helmets and more courtesy of Hagerman Construction and the Komets. Tickets can be ordered through the Komet office at (260) 483-0011.
