Checkers pick up Hartford six-pack

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Checkers announced today that Steve MacIntyre and Ryan Cuthbert were returned on loan to Charlotte from their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Wolf Pack also assigned Jake Taylor, David Liffiton, Dwight Helminen and Rory Rawlyk to Charlotte today. The announcement was made by Checkers Head Coach Derek Wilkinson.

Defensemen:

Jake Taylor played the first nine games of the ECHL season with Charlotte where he had 2 assists, 29 penalty minutes, and a plus/minus rating of +7. He had 2 assists and 105 penalty minutes in 31 games with Hartford.

David Liffiton also played the first nine games of the season with the Checkers. In that time he accrued 10 penalty minutes. Together with fellow blue-liner Taylor, the Checkers went 6-2-1. In Liffiton's 15 games with Hartford, the Pack has gone 8-4-3.

Rory Rawlyk has played in 41 games for the Checkers where he had 7 goals and 12 assists for 19 points. Consistently among the top 16 leading defensemen scorers in the league, Rawlyk and the Checkers have gone 25-14-2. Rawlyk's first game with Hartford was on Sunday, February 6, 2005.

Reputed hit-man Steve MacIntyre racked up 93 penalty minutes in 24 games with the Checkers. With Big Mac on the roster, the Checkers are 15-8-1. In MacIntyre's 21 games with the Wolf Pack this season, Hartford has gone 11-10-0. He scored his first career AHL goal and assist on January 29, 2005, against the Hershey Bears.

Forwards:

Dwight Helminen's first game with the Checkers was on November 5, 2004, against Trenton. In ten games, Helminen racked up 4 goals and 4 assists, helping the Checkers go 7-2-1. As a member of the Wolf Pack, Helminen had 2 goals and 6 assists in 34 games, including a four game assist streak from 12/05 to 12/11.

In 31 games with the Checkers, assistant captain Ryan Cuthbert had 7 goals and 19 assists for 26 points. He had a seven game point streak from 12/17 to 12/28, a three game point streak at the beginning of the year that yielded 7 points, and five assists during a four game point streak prior to being recalled. In 11 games with Hartford, Cuthbert had 1 assist.
