Lynx Go Even At 1-1-1 This Week

February 7, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

Three straight games against the Florida Everblades gave the Lynx an even 1-1-1 mark this week.

Tuesday the week kicked off with the final Florida installment of the seven game season series at Germain Arena. Augusta took advantage of facing Terry Dunbar in his first ECHL start, notching three first period goals en route to a 4-2 win over the Everblades. Rod Sarich notched an even strength and a power play goal to make it 2-0, followed by Colt King's eventual game winning goal for a 3-0 lead after the first period. Florida clawed back with a pair of goals to make it a 3-2 game late, but Jamie Johnson provided the insurance into an empty net for a 4-2 final. Jason Saal made 37 saves for the win.

Friday, Florida repaid the favor with their first visit to Augusta this season, defeating the Lynx 3-1. Johnson scored the only goal for the Lynx, who gave up a late empty-net goal for the 3-1 final. Saal made 23 stops for the Lynx in the loss.

Rounding out the week on Saturday night, Augusta would fall behind 2-0 after the first period before Matt Dzieduszycki made it a 2-1 game with a power play goal in the second. Florida broke right back for a 3-1 lead, but goals by Jamie Johnson and Colt King 47 seconds apart in the third period rallied Augusta to a regulation tie. Damian Surma notched an unassisted overtime game winner at 3:48 to send the Lynx packing with only one point in the contest. Matus Kostur stopped 19 shots for the single point, while Tyler MacKay turned aside 45 from the Lynx for the win.
