Notes
Getting the Call: Since last Wednesday, three IceGators have been recalled to the Houston Aeros. Thursday, it was David Bararuk getting the call. The 2nd year man was coming off back to back 3 point efforts and he continued with the hot hand, scoring a goal for Houston on Friday night. Saturday morning, Mark Rooneem, who has scored a goal in his last four games, got promoted. The rookie from Hinton, Alberta, played in Saturday night's 1-0 Aeros win over Milwaukee. Rooneem did not get on the scorer's sheet, but was impressive with his hustle and speed. Sunday, defenseman Chris Heid was recalled and is expected to play in Tuesday's game for the Aeros. There is no specific time set for any of the three players return to Lafayette.
Trading Places: On Sunday, Coach Todd Gordon swung a deal with the Gwinnett Gladiators to exchange defensemen. The Gators sending Randy Dagenais back to his original ECHL team. In return, Louisiana picks up Dave McCullough, a rookie defenseman from Harvard. In 40 games for the Gladiators this season, the 22 year old from Lacombe, Alberta, has scored 2 goals with 4 assists for 6 points. McCullough has amassed 55 penalty minutes and has a +/- rating of +3.
"The Hinton Connection": Since coming to Louisiana, Jade Galbraith has averaged more than a point a game with 18 points, (5-13-18) in 13 games as a Gator. The other half of the "Hinton Connection", Mark Rooneem, has the longest current goal scoring streak in the league with 5 goals scored over the last in 4 games. Rooneem has scored 11 goals in his last 13 games and is 2nd on the Gators with 5 power play goals, all scored in the last 10 games.
Scoring Stats: Coming off a 4 point week, Wes Mason is now ranked 7th in the ECHL with 45 points (20-25-45) Mason's shorthanded goal against Pensacola made him the first IceGator this season to reach the 20 goal plateau.
