ORLANDO, Fl. - The Admirals ended their three-game road trip in Florida at Amway Center with a 6-3 loss to the Solar Bears.

Orlando struck first, lighting the lamp at 5:22 in the first period. Jack Rodewald nabbed his first goal of the season with a hard shot from the right side of the zone on the rush, cutting between Admirals netminder Ty Rimmer's skates. The score remained in favor of Orlando, 1-0, at the sound of the first horn.

The Admirals leveled the score right out of the intermission at the top of the second period, when Greg Chase netted a rebound goal. Josh Currie's shot from the right wing in transition bounced off the gear of Solar Bears goaltender, Ryan Massa. Trailing the play, Chase one-timed the loose puck at :51 in the second to tie it, 1-1.

At 17:18 of the second while on the penalty kill, Eric Faille and Brady Vail created a two-on-one by scooping up a loose puck at the Norfolk blue line. Vail attracted the lone defenseman before sending a pass to the wide-open Faille who used a nifty deke to slip a shot through Rimmer's five hole. Faille's shorthanded goal--the fourth one of the season for the Bears--tipped the score, 2-1, over the Admirals at the end of the second.

The intensity picked up in the third when the Bears took a two-goal advantage after Brett Finley's wrister at :26 seconds pushed the lead to 3-1. On the break, Finley pulled up at the hash marks and zipped a shot through to build Orlando's biggest lead of the night.

Norfolk fired back and closed the gap when Currie circled into the slot and released a shot that beat Massa to his left at 3:18. Steven Whitney and Jordan Hill combined to create the opportunity for Currie.

Later in the frame, Vail drifted into the slot and accepted a feed from Patrick Watling in the corner. Vail was had time and space to use to fire the puck in off the right post to take back the two-goal lead at 7:54.

Orlando put away the Admirals when Vail scored his second goal of the night, lifting them to a 5-2 count over Norfolk at 14:31.

Currie gave the Admirals life on a five-on-three power play at 16:58 when he batted a puck out of midair to make it 5-3. Orlando made the victory official with an empty-net goal at 18:49 in the third before eventually posting the 6-3 win.

Rimmer kept out 27 of 32 attempts on Norfolk net, while Massa saved 38 of 41 Admirals shots. The Solar Bears went scoreless on five power-play attempts, while Norfolk went 1-for-4.

The Admirals will be back in Norfolk next Friday, where they will face the Quad City Mallards at 7:30 p.m.
