Day Chief's Two-Goal Night Leads Rush Past Eagles 3-2

(Loveland, Colo.)- The Colorado Eagles fell to the Rapid City Rush 3-2 at the Budweiser Events Center Saturday night. Winston Day Chief scored two goals on the night to lead the Rush to the victory.

After a scoreless first period, the Rush would break through, scoring the first goal of the game at the 15:03 mark in the second. A one-time shot from Nolan Descoteaux rebounded in front of the net and Winston Day Chief was there to give Rapid City a 1-0 lead.

Colorado tied it with just 30 seconds to play in the second, as Jesse Mychan scored a diving goal placing a rebound past Rush goaltender Danny Battochio. Headed into the third, the Eagles and Rush were tied 1-1.

Rapid City took a 2-1 lead on a goal from Spencer Pommels at the 9:56 mark of the third period, as he stuffed home a rebound from the low slot past Eagles goaltender Jacob DeSerres.

Two minutes later, Christian Isackson scored on a shot from the bottom of the circle, tying the game at two goals apiece. Jake Marto added his second assist of the night on the play.

Rapid City took the lead at the 18:18 mark of the third period, as the puck bounced across the crease and right on the stick of Day Chief who beat DeSerres to give the Rush a 3-2 lead.

The two teams will meet for the third time on the season when they face off next Wednesday at the Budweiser Events Center.
