October 22, 2018 - BASEBALL Atlantic League: The independent Atlantic League announced its 2019 schedule that will feature the new High Point (NC) Rockers team replacing the league's travel team called the Road Warriors. The league will again have eight teams aligned in four-team Liberty and Freedom divisions with High Point replacing the Road Warriors in the Liberty Division. The Road Warriors were created for the 2018 season to keep the league at eight teams when the Bridgeport (CT) Bluefish shut down operations after the 2017 season. ... Full Story

Three Stars of Opening Weekend Named

October 22, 2018 - FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Hockey returned to the All-American City this weekend, as the Marksmen opened up the entire 2018-2019 Southern Professional Hockey League season. On their Opening Weekend, the Marksmen would take on their rival Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs on Friday's Opening Night (presented by Systel), and on the road at Macon on Saturday Night. Klecha Leads Mayhem to First Victory of the Season

October 21, 2018 - MACON, GA- Looking to split the series on their home opening weekend, the Mayhem conjured up a 3-2 victory over the Fayetteville Marksmen on Saturday night. Macon played with fire a bit in the early going when Justin Levac was found guilty of hooking at 4:37. Fayetteville's power play had scored the night previous and was on a roll, but the Mayhem penalty killers fought it off brilliantly. October 21, 2018 - EVANSVILLE, INDIANA - After an opening night loss, the Huntsville Havoc bounced back strong with a 6-3 victory on the road against the Evansville Thunderbolts on Saturday, October 20. The special teams were a major highlight for the Havoc (1-1-0) as they scored three powerplay goals on four opportunities and shut down Evansville (0-2-0) during the two powerplay chances for the Thunderbolts.
