Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The West Coast Hockey League announced today that Long Beach Ice Dogs defenseman Jamie Sokolsky and right wing Chris Kenady were selected to the West Coast Hockey League's All-WCHL teams. The league's general managers, coaches, and newspaper beat writers named Sokolsky to the 2001-02 All-WCHL First Team, while Kenady was nominated to the 2001-02 All-WCHL Second Team.

Sokolsky, 25, has been one of the league's top scoring blue liners all season, sharing first in WCHL defensemen scoring with 52 points. His 14 goals places him second (tied) among league defensemen, and third in assists with 38. The Toronto, Ontario native has scored six power-play goals, positioning him fourth (tied) in the WCHL. In 65 games, he's recorded a +20 plus/minus rating, which ranks fourth.

Kenady, who turns 29 on April 10, has been one of the leagues top scorers all season. The Mound, Minnesota native leads all Ice Dogs, and ranks 10th (tied), in WCHL scoring with 66 points, including a fourth place (tied) ranking in short-handed goals (4). Kenady also is among WCHL leaders, ranking fifth with 34 goals.

Both have been instrumental in the Ice Dogs success, which is currently in second place in the Southern Division, securing home-ice advantage during the teams' upcoming first-round match-up of the Taylor Cup Playoffs. The Ice Dogs rank fourth overall in goals-for per game with 3.40, and allow just 2.73 goals per game—the fewest in the league.
