Brass Forced to Play in Jackson

April 1, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
New Orleans Brass News Release

(4/01/02) After accepting an initial agreement to play the Southwest Division Wild Card Game in New Orleans, the Jackson Bandits gained permission from the East Coast Hockey League to move Tuesday's game from New Orleans to Jackson. The game will now be played Tuesday night at 9:00pm Central Standard Time at the Mississippi Coliseum, which Bandits' General Manager Brad Ewing had previously stated was unavailable.

"Despite our vehement objections, the league has ruled on this matter," stated Brass Vice President/General Manager Dan Belisle. "We played Saturday night (in Augusta) with the understanding that we were playing at home on Tuesday. Needless to say, I do not agree with the league's decision." With one point in Saturday night's game, the Brass would have moved past Jackson into fourth place in the Southwest Division. With several key players out of the lineup, the Brass dropped a 2-1 decision to Augusta Saturday.

Tuesday's game will air live on WWL 870-AM following the LSU vs. UNO baseball game, which begins at 6:30pm. The Brass game begins at 9:00pm Tuesday. The broadcast on WWL will be joined in progress when the LSU game ends.

If the Brass wins the Wild Card Game in Jackson, the Brass would then face the Louisiana IceGators in the Southwest Division Semifinals. The schedule for that series is still to be determined.
